Abstract

The operators of the classical electromagnetic field, whose eigenvalues are the corresponding classical fields, are introduced. The use of eigenfunctions of classical field operators in describing the transition from the free quantum field to the classical one is considered. The scheme for the derivation of the semiclassical approximation from nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics is improved. The limits of applicability of the semiclassical approximation are considered.
