Abstract

A description is presented of the development, implementation, and operations planning for the Colombian hydrothermal interconnected power system. Advanced methodologies for optimization of hydrothermal generation scheduling were implemented and are currently being used by the system. A high degree of participation by personnel from all of the interconnected utilities was adopted during the definition and development of the organizational structure and methodologies. Feedback channels among the various personnel were implemented and widely used. Operations planning agreements were defined, including the commercial and operational aspects. The operational structure is outlined along with operations planning agreements and various experiences encountered during development and actual operation.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
