Abstract

A pressure pillow system is described for use in measuring snow water equivalent in a snowpack. These pillows used in conjunction with coding devices and radio systems can transmit the water equivalent data on a real time basis to any desired location. Design emphasis has been placed on simplicity and reliability. Coding device and radio communications systems are designed for use with either dry batteries or solar cell charged wet batteries. Operation in California during the 1967 snow season is discussed.
