Abstract

The paper deals with operation of single-phase active power filter under weak AC source. In case of weak source, the voltage at point of common coupling (PCC) is distorted because of the non-linear current drawn from the source. The paper presents a novel control algorithm to compute the reference filter current under distorted voltage. A synchronization circuit is presented, which is used to extract the zero crossing instance of the PCC voltage even under multiple zero crossings. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed method.
