Abstract

The authors previously reported that if two square-wave-chopper-driven orthogonal magnetic cores are connected in push-pull fashion, the result is a converter capable of supplying low-distortion ac power from a dc power supply. Here, with the purpose of developing a photovoltaic power generation system utilizing such orthogonal-core type push-pull converters, the authors trial-fabricated an orthogonal-core type push-pull converter with a capacity of about 400 W. When this converter was used in tests to couple solar cells with an ac power line, the anticipated results were obtained. These results are described.
