Abstract
The Internal Audit activity includes the analysis of activities and processes, which can and should be executed in a systematic and automated way through the use of Open Source Workflow Management Systems. The conducted study analyzed several Open Source Workflow Management Systems in order to find the most adequate to support the audit process and presents an example of its use, regarding the case of Internal Audit of the Purchase process.
