Abstract

This paper focuses on historical background and the emergence of the concept of Open Educational Resources. The paper discusses the its definitions, types and formats of OER. The copyright and licensing consideration for OER are alsodiscussed. Further, the paper highlights the advantages and disadvantages of OERs. Some important Open Educational Resource initiatives in India is listed.
