Abstract

The relaxation technique for computing the electrostatic potential in 2D is extended to open-boundary problems. Two methods are introduced for updating the outer boundary potential between iterations using a numerical Green's function. Comparisons with conventional grounded-boundary results show that greatly increased accuracy is obtainable with the open-boundary method. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
