Abstract

Beauty production and modifications in heavy-ion collisions are considered to be one of the key measurements to address the flavour-dependence of in-medium energy loss in PbPb collisions at the LHC. The CMS experiment has excellent capabilities for measuring b-quark production thanks to the excellent performances of its muon and tracker system, allowing the measurement J/ψ mesons from B meson decays, separately from prompt production, as well as fully reconstructed B mesons. In this talk, CMS will present the first measurement of the v2 Fourier harmonic and the RAA down to pT>3 GeV/c, for J/ψ produced in B meson decays, in PbPb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV, as a function of transverse momentum, rapidity and event centrality. In addition, the measurement of RAA for fully reconstructed B mesons will be shown, for the first time, in PbPb collisions at 5.02 TeV.

Introduction

Relativistic heavy ion collisions allow the study of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at very high energy density. CMS conducted the measurment of nonprompt J/ψ at √sNN =2.76 TeV PbPb collisions by reconstructing the decay topology J/ψ → μ+μ−. The event plane method was used to derive the result in two J/ψ pT bins The centrality for this particular measurement is selected to be within 10–60%. The in the same plot central value of is v2 a comparison of the v2 of D0 meson [8] and charged of nonprompt J/ψ is lower to that of D0 meson and charged particle at low pT and becoming similar at high pT. 2.
