Abstract

Experimental deuteron data, in particular the quadrupole moment and the rms radius, together with OPE dominance at large neutron-proton separations, are shown to restrict the asymptotic D/S ratio η within very narrow limits. These are compared with results of recent attempts to determine η from polarization measurements in elastic d-p scattering. An improved rigorous lower bound on the D-state probability p D is also established.
