Abstract

Skeletal Class II is an anomaly that is frequently presented in orthodontic clinics. It represents approximately 51% of the total number of patients who come for consultation, its prevalence worldwide is 19%, with variations of 15% to 30% depending on the population. Treatment is varied and at a global level various proposals have been presented according to the age of each patient; however, there is controversy as to which method should be applied for each alteration present in the mixed dentition. The literature was selected by searching the following electronic databases: Pubmed, Lilacs, Google Academic, Epistemonikos, Elsevier, Springer. The search was for articles in English, Spanish and Portuguese published from January 2012 to January 2022. After applying the inclusion criteria, a total of 298 articles were obtained and reviewed, after which the articles were selected for analysis according to the selection criteria. The available literature revealed several treatment options for skeletal class II during mixed dentition, the results obtained are mostly dentoalveolar, the dento-skeletal changes are few, but contribute to great aesthetic improvements and in the patient's self-esteem.
