OP03-2 - Validity of new thromboelastograph point-of-care device, TEG6s in high risk cardiac surgery

Abstract

There are a number or near patient analyzers available for management of postoperative bleeding. Haemonetics has recently developed a cartridge based thromboelastograph; TEG6S. It has a number of theoretical advantages such as allowing a multi-channel assessment of several haemostatic parameters at once. We compared TEG 6s to the original TEG5000 and conventional laboratory test (CLT) in high risk cardiac surgery to establish any clinical advantage over them.
