Abstract

Recently in our practice, a case of Turner's mosaicism was discovered in a 27 year old patient with excellent ovarian response to stimulation during several IVF/ICSI cycles, but a high proportion (80%) of immature oocytes. Since Turner's mosaicism is associated with premature ovarian failure, we hypothesized that impending ovarian failure may be preceded by a large proportion of immature oocytes. If true, oocyte immaturity would be more common in older women undergoing IVF/ICSI because of their closer proximity to ovarian failure and menopause.
