Abstract

Indonesia has many ethnic groups and each ethnic group has various types of dances. Jaipong Oray Welang is one of the most popular modernized traditional dances originating from the Sundanese people. In an effort to preserve this dance, it is necessary to record the knowledge, not only in terms of descriptions and other attributes but also recording a series of dance moves along with pictures of examples of each dance movement. In this study, the ontology of the Jaipong Oray Welang dance has been built. Dance movement data was obtained from observations and interviews of dancers in a Sundanese dance studio. Ontology is implemented using the protégé application and owlready2 in python, and competency questions are evaluated using SPARQL queries.
