Abstract

An urban transportation network in which public and private modes of transport coexist is considered in this paper. The dynamic behaviour of such a network is modelled by means of discrete-event techniques and is reproduced via an ad-hoc realized simulation tool. A major module of the overall simulator consists in an online information service able to provide the best intermodal paths between any pair of stations in the network. Such paths vary according to the system dynamics, depending essentially on the traffic conditions. The attention of this work is focused on the heuristic algorithm defined and adopted to search for the required optimal paths.
