Abstract

The Data Acquisition (DAQ) system of the KOTO experiment is currently undergoing a major upgrade, following an also ongoing accelerator’s beam intensity upgrade. The throughput of the current DAQ is limited by the hardware, and different prescalings have to be applied to reduce the data rate to a manageable level. The DAQ upgrade aims to remove the hardware bottleneck, increasing the amount of data that reaches the high level trigger system. The new high level trigger will make use of parallelization over CPU and GPU threads to perform event reconstruction, selection, and compression, to eventually allow for more variate physics searches in KOTO.
