Abstract
The Internet has impacted social life in many ways, including providing a new means for prostitutes and customers to find each other. While male-for-male prostitution has existed for thousands of years, male Internet prostitution is a relatively new phenomenon. An analysis of 1,262 advertisements placed on a large, national (United States), Internet escort site is used to provide a description of the men involved in this form of prostitution and the advertisements used to sell their services. This study provides a descriptive, exploratory analysis of male escorts who advertise their services on the Internet and compares this data with the extant literature on male prostitution. In addition, this paper provides information not currently found in the literature on male prostitution: self-reported penis size, self-described sexual activities listed in Internet escort advertisements, and the extent of the use efface shots in advertisements.
