Abstract

Single phase SnO (tin monoxide) has been synthesized by a simple one-step solvothermal synthesis method. Formation of single phase is confirmed both by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman scattering studies. From the simultaneous thermogravimetric (TGA) – differential thermal analysis (DTA) it is seen that SnO is stable up to 490°C and converts into SnO2 at higher temperatures. Oxidation of SnO to SnO2 is confirmed by XRD and Raman scattering studies.
