Abstract

„One’s own” and „someone else’s” in the interpretation of the feminine and the masculine in Dina Rubina’s novel The Babi Breeze The charakter in Dina Rubina’s novel The Babi Breeze, like the author herself, grew up in a multicultural environment. Her intrinsic cross‑cultural experience of perceiving and discovering the world helps her in her work with people of different nationalities, as well as in her understanding of those who she had never come across with, such as transsexuals, bisexuals, asexuals, gays and lesbians. She looks at the world through the eyes of a Jew who has lived for many years outside the USSR. By the will of the author, she views and breaks all representatives of sexual minorities into „one’s own” and „someone else’s” ac‑ cording to the notions adopted back in childhood, national tradition, according to the Tora and Rabbi teachings. The latter ones are presented implicitly in the text, and do not disturb the intimate tone of the letters which make uh the text of the novel itself.
