Abstract

A “one-pot” method for the production of phenanthrene seco-boldine from the aporphine alkaloid boldine in subcritical water was developed and studied. The efficiency of the method for the preparation of seco-boldine in subcritical water was studied at temperatures from 100 to 230°C. The “one-pot” technique in subcritical water allows a quantitative yield of seco-boldine in one step without using any catalytic additives. The structure of the product was confirmed by NMR and ESI-MS. The proposed technique does not require the use of expensive and toxic organic solvents. The preparation of seco-boldine by this technique takes 30 min, which makes it possible to develop an inexpensive, environmentally safe procedure for the production of seco-boldine in subcritical water.
