Abstract
One-pot synthesis of mesoporous aluminosilicate molecular sieve (MASM) with the Si/Al molar ratio of 25 from aluminium isopropoxide, tetraethylorthosilicate, acetylacetone as a chelating agent and cetyltrimethylaluminium bromide by the sol–gel method is reported. The solid product was characterized with XRD, FT–IR and nitrogen adsorption-desorption techniques. MASM successfully catalyzed the alkylation of toluene with benzyl alcohol with 100% conversion and 92% selectivity toward the formation of p-methyldiphenylmethane during 1 h.
