Abstract

In this study, a fast and good yield one-pot microwave-assisted synthesis (45 seconds) of 1H-phenanthro[9,10-d][1,2,3]triazole by a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of sodium azide and 9-bromophenanthrene in the presence of potassium tert-butoxide in DMSO as solvent is reported.

Introduction

Microwave-assisted synthesis has been utilized as a powerful and effective technique to promote a group of chemical reactions [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8]. Abstract: In this study, a fast and good yield one-pot microwave-assisted synthesis (45 seconds) of 1H-phenanthro[9,10-d][1,2,3]triazole by a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of sodium azide and 9-bromophenanthrene in the presence of potassium tert-butoxide in DMSO as solvent is reported. Huisgen’s 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of alkynes and azides yielding triazoles is, undoubtedly, the premier example of click chemistry reactions [9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22]. 1,2,3-triazole formation requires harsh conditions, that is, high temperature and longer reaction times.
