Abstract

There are many applications for lenslet arrays in optical computing and optical interconnections. A hololens array is a holographic lenslet array that functions on-axis like a refractive lenslet array or off-axis with the proper recording configuration. The general way to make a hololens array is the step and repeat exposure process,1 which is time consuming and has stability problems as the number of lenslets increases. We propose a one step method to record a hololens array by using a 4f imaging system and a lenslet array. We place the lenslet array so that its back focal plane coincides with the front focal plane of the first lens in the 4f system. This system has a unique magnification independent of the lenslet array position along the optical axis. If we put a holographic plate in the image plane of the lenslet array, a hololens array can be recorded with one exposure by introducing a reference beam. Some applications of the hololens array are presented for optical interconnections.
