Abstract
The exploring of transition metal-based selenides (TMSes) as the efficient electrocatalysts in acidic and alkaline media has received extensive for a wide range of practical applications. We combine the advantages of self-supporting electrode, P doping and synergistic effect between bimetallic materials to synthesize P-doped Fe0.5Mo0.5Se2 grown on carbon cloth (P–Fe0.5Mo0.5Se2/CC), which displays high hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalytic property in both electrolytes. The P–Fe0.5Mo0.5Se2/CC catalyst with proportion-optimized shows good performance. Specifically, it has low overpotentials of 102 and 179 mV at current density of 10 mA cm−2 and small Tafel slope values of 54 and 80 mV dec−1 in 0.5 M H2SO4 and 1 M KOH media, respectively. This work offers the simple way and perspective worth to investigate the design of efficient electrocatalyst in both solutions.
