Abstract

AbstractA simple, mild, and facile carbonylation procedure to synthesise 2‐arylbenzoxazole derivatives using dicobalt octacarbonyl [Co2(CO)8] as an in situ carbon monoxide source is described. This method is tolerant of a variety of functional groups and the compounds are obtained in high to excellent yields. Moreover, the reaction is performed in one‐pot with a simple workup procedure. The choice of catalytic system as well as base is important in order to ensure a high yield and chemoselectivity in the reaction. Both electron‐rich and electron‐deficient aryl bromides worked well in this reaction.
