Abstract

Glutamic acid has been found to be an efficient organocatalyst for one-pot synthesis of 2,4,5-triaryl substituted imidazole by using a mixture of an aromatic aldehyde, a benzil or benzoin and an ammonium acetate in ethanol as solvent. The cleaner reaction, and easy workup make this protocol practical and economically attractive. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17807/orbital.v13i3.1611
