Abstract
Glucose Conversion In article number 2100444, Jose M. Campos-Martin and co-workers report that glucose obtained from abundant non-edible biomass, can be directly converted to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF), a versatile precursor of biofuels or bioplastics. A tandem catalyst is employed that combines a metal organic framework that isomerizes glucose to fructose, and a polyoxometalate that dehydrates fructose to 5-HMF.
