Abstract

Considering the trauma that our health system suffered related to Hurricane Ike in September 2008, administrators, employees, and students were hoping to avoid future emergency occurrences. The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) caught a break until August 2017 when Hurricane Harvey washed in. Handling Hurricane Harvey demonstrated yet again the University's strength and resilience in meeting the challenges that hammer facilities and humans during naturally occurring emergencies.
