Abstract
Since May 2002, St. Paul's Hospital has implanted 121 ventricular assist devices (VADs) into 113 patients. February 2008 saw the implementation of the new generation of continuous flow VADs which were smaller, more reliable and easier for patients to use. We will present an overview of outcomes seen in our centre to date and provide some insights that may stimulate future nursing research.
