Abstract

One Health addresses the integration of human health, animal health, the environment, and the adoption of effective public policies for disease prevention and control working at local, regional, national, and global levels. However, this concept may not definitively incorporate the idea of systemic thinking, ecological and planetary illness. Humans only reach an ideal level of quality of life when in fact they identify and recognize nature without duality. Such thinking is the pillar of deep ecology and systemic thinking, which perfectly encompasses complexity theory and fractal geometry, so the part is in the whole and the whole is in the part. One of the main challenges of our time is to create sustainable communities to meet their needs and aspirations without affecting or diminishing the prospects of future generations of all beings inhabiting the planet. Within this context, this chapter intends to discuss the main concepts related to the origin of life, deep ecology, systemic thinking, human and social ecology, and fractal geometry. In addition, it proposes a strategic agenda for overcoming the challenges human beings cause and face in different levels and scales, based on the broader concept of One Health for the New Era.
