Abstract

Objective To evaluate the value of enhanced computerized tomography(CT),computerized tomography aorta(CTA) on the diagnosis and intervention therapy of pulmonary sequestration. Methods One case of pulmonary sequestration confirmed by CTA in the hospital was reported. Relevant references about pulmonary sequestration published in China were reviewed. Results The patient was confirmed to have an abnormally thickened aberrant blood vessel. The key of diagnosis of pulmonary sequestration is to confirm existence of abnormal feeding artery coming from the systemic circulation. Advantage of enhanced CT and CTA in diagnosis of pulmonary sequestration is non-invasive. Conclusions CTA is more sensitive to detect an abnormal feeding artery. It should be the first choice for diagnosing pulmonary sequestration. Embolotherapy is an effective and safe way for managing pulmonary sequestration with advantage of less pain and complication. Key words: Pulmonary sequestration; Computerized tomography; Computerized tomography aorta
