Abstract

In order to develop a new flexible transfer line (FTL) that links pre-process production line and after-process production line, production engineers must decide the parts input sequence to FTL. The author attempts to develop a production simulator that assists the production engineers' decision. The simulator consists of IF-THEN rules, GA and discrete simulator. The THEN parts of IF-THEN rules include rank values that indicate parts input sequence. After a number of operations, improved IF-THEN rules are acquired. The results are confirmed to be useful by comparing with those of a statistical method. The acquired parts input sequence can be used in starting the new FTL operation.
