Abstract

To the Editor: Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive cutaneous neuroendocrine malignancy that has been increasing in incidence.1 Four percent to 5% of patients present with unknown primary tumors, which has been observed to be associated with improved overall survival (OS) over those with known primaries.2 To determine the effect of T and M stage on OS, we conducted a retrospective analysis of the National Cancer Database containing patients with lymph node (LN)–positive MCC diagnosed from 2004 to 2016 (Supplementary Fig 1, available via Mendeley at https://doi.org/10.17632/x854j5thxd.2).
