Abstract
Different behaviors of the specific heat capacity of crystalline, amorphous, and liquid matter as well as glass transition and crystallization processes are considered. A hypothesis on the nature of the amorphous and liquid state based on the analysis of the experimental data is framed. The structural model is tested using X-ray diffraction data for the Cu75Ge25 liquid alloy.
