Abstract
In this paper, a study has been made of the nature of thermal waves in a random nonsimple medium exhibiting thermal relaxation properties, using the model of Chen. Gurtin and Williams for nonsimple medium and Lord-Shulman's theory for thermal relaxation in time. The method of perturbation for random medium developed by Karal and Keller has been utilised to determine the equation satisfied by the mean temperature. The results have been applied to the particular problem of penetration of temperature waves in a semi-infinite medium.
