Abstract

Model calculations for state collision induced vibrational relaxation rates are performed. The model includes intramolecular couplings to fourth order. It is shown that Fermi resonance interactions between the v i CH-stretching mode and overtones or higher order combination tones are essential to understand the rapid energy relaxation into these states.
