Abstract

The validity of the crossing theorem in quantum field theory is investigated for the case of a complex scalar field in interaction with any other spinor or tensor fields by means of a certain class of interaction Hamiltonians. It is found that the validity of the crossing theorem can be guaranteed, if, and only if, the interaction Hamiltonian is causal and conserves the generalized charge. Some implications of this result are discussed.
