Abstract
The patch antenna is regarded as one of the key components for compact, low cost wireless platforms. In this paper, a novel dual-band patch antenna with complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs) is presented. This antenna is designed to operate at the 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz bands. Furthermore, antenna miniaturization is achieved by etching the CSRR in the ground plane. This reduces the antenna size by 23% when compared to conventional patch antennas. A prototype antenna is also fabricated and tested, and measured results are in good agreement with simulations. Furthermore, the performance influence of the CSRR is discussed.
