Abstract

One of the phenomena of advancing digitalization are introductory texts posted by expert-professionals on their own and other websites; these play a dominant role in self-presentation on the Internet. The chapter examines the introductory texts of medical doctors published on so-called doctor rating portals. The recipients of the texts are portal visitors in search of a suitable doctor. Since a doctor is always introduced in connection with the range of medical services offered, numerous medical terms appear in the texts. The aim is to show how the medical terminology is introduced into presentation texts, which are here considered a means of medical communication between physician-expert and a layperson.
