Abstract

Abstract There are a number of methods of different accuracy and complexity available for the transient analysis of RC lines. A new numerical method is proposed which is superior in engineering applications as it, yields an interpretation on the basis of a physical model. It is essentially a finite-difference scheme developed from the physical, rather than mathematical, point of view. Conditions for stability are derived and convergence is illustrated in some examples. This method provides good accuracy and simple programming regardless of whether the distributed parameters are uniform or not. The method may also be generalized to include RCR and CRCstructures.
