Abstract

Four qualities of Fe 510 steel with different sulphur content and/or sulphur shape control are investigated in Charpy-V-impact, fracture mechanics and wide plate tests in order to evaluate the toughness behaviour of sulphide-controlled steels. Different transition temperatures are compared amongst each others and are related to the fracture of wide plates, for which quantitative fracture mechanics analysis were carried out.
