Abstract

AbstractA hemispherical dielectric resonator antenna axisymmetrically fed by a coaxial probe is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The input impedance of the lowest‐order TM mode (the TM101 mode) is evaluated by using the variational formula and the result agrees well with measured data. The effects of the probe length and dielectric constant on the input impedance are studied. Finally, the theoretical radiation pattern is compared with that of a bare mono‐pole of a quarter‐wavelength in height. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
