Abstract

A new switch connection Approach to improve the performance of large token bus networks is devised. The single large token bus network is partitioned into smaller networks, and these networks are interconnected by a multi-stage butterfly switch. This technique has enhanced the performance of the network by increasing the throughput and reducing the average packet delay. The performance of the single large network and the proposed partitioned network have been modelled and simulated using Simscript II.5. It was found that the throughput of the proposed partitioned network is improved and there is a significant decrease in the average packet delay compared to the single network.
