Abstract

This paper is an extension of the work of Provotorov and Samokhin on the spin absorption in the spin system which can attain statistical equilibrium due to the dipole dipole interaction. The pertubation formalism for the density matrix is given which enables one to find the higher order response of the system. The results obtained by Provotorov and Samokhin in the high temperature approximation are rederived without this approximation and the expression for the second order response is obtained. It is shown that the same expression (except for the saturation factor) can be obtained in Kubo's method. However, in this case the diverging terms appear.
