Abstract

Abstract A rigorous reformulation of the Hamiltonian describing a dense exciton system is given in terms of ideal Bose operators. The kinematic implications of the Pauli exclusion principle are treated consistently. It is shown that as a consequence of the fermionic nature of the elementary constituents macroscopic occupation of single pair states cannot occur. A variational approach for the study of Off-Diagonal Long-Range Order (ODLRO) is outlined and the incorporation of the subsidiary condition is discussed.
