Abstract

Abstract The synthesis of a shaped single offset reflector with dielectric cone feed is studied theoretically under geometric-optics assumptions using the method of complex coordinates to track ray directions and polarizations. Reflection losses are included in the theory presented. The problem of shaping the reflector and dielectric surfaces to control aperture power and phase distributions is shown to require the solution of a Monge-Ampère equation for which numerical techniques are available.
