Abstract
1. 1. A new method is described for the isolation of unimolecular films of protein. 2. 2. This method has been applied to the study of films of pepsin. The results suggest that a fully unfolded pepsin film possesses no enzymic activity. There is no reason to suppose that a pepsin molecule, after having undergone complete unfolding at an air-water interface, can readily regain an active configuration.
