Abstract
Kinetic energy distributions of secondary ions emitted from Cs +-bombarded oxygen annealed and argon annealed YBa 2Cu 3O 7− δ (YBCO) samples and Ar +-bombarded Y 2O 3 have been measured. Surface binding energy of yttrium (Y) and copper in the YBCO sample is found to be influenced by the structural changes and they are compared with that of Y in Y 2O 3. Difference in the secondary ion emission from the two types of YBCO samples are explained in the light of their known structures.
