Abstract

The reaction which carried out in non-swelling medium is influenced by the diffusion rate of reagants into cellulose fibers. That the Sakurada's equation.x=kzm, is applicable for acetyl reaction is well known. In order to study the acetyl reaction of hornified cellulose, constants m and k of Sakurada's equation are compared for many pulps which purified under various conditions. For high reactive pulps m is smaller than poorer one, but k is higher than the latter. Moreover constant k and m are changed during acetylation for poor reactive pulps. And m of hard fornified pulps is almost equal to that of the fiber formurous acetylation.
