Abstract

The paper has investigated several aspects of the partial realization problem. In section 2 a main result is the characterization for the multivariable case of all possible jumps and jump sizes in the order of a minimal partial realization as a new Markov parameter becomes available. In section 3 it is shown for the multivariable case that a nesting property exists amongst minimal partial realizations that fit an increasing number of Markov parameters. This has been the basis for the formulation of a parametrization for minimal and non-minimal partial realizations.
